History of Jordan Limousines
A family business since 1982, Joe Jordan and his wife Jan have been very busy helping Houston and Galveston area brides have a very memorable and romantic form of transportation on their special day.
Joe had been an avid collector of classic cars since high school days and the business ”sort of” evolved after repeated requests to rent cars from his collection for weddings. “It’s a micro-niche of the total limousine business in Houston , but we own the niche”, says Jordan . We found that many brides really have preferred something different on their wedding day and we provide that for them. A picture of a bride and groom standing by a Rolls Royce with their name on the front plate is the type of picture they would place in the entryway of their home or on their dresser in the bedroom.
The Houston economy has fluctuated up and down over the decades, but families will dip into sacred savings to provide for a beautiful wedding if both families are delighted with their children’s choice of a lifetime mate. There are wedding-related businesses in Houston that have been family businesses for generations. Jordan Limousines has worked with just about everybody and, if asked, knows who to recommend in almost any area of wedding planning.
Jordan Limousines was in the first Bridal Extravaganza in Town and Country Mall in 1984 and has been a regular exhibitor ever since. To miss it would be “inconceivable”, says Jordan . “You would be conspicuous by your absence”. Our best customers come from referrals, and we have done as many as three daughters in the same family, with 5 years in between weddings. In some families, one of our cars can become a family tradition for weddings.” Couples will also book the same car one, two or five years after their wedding for their anniversary celebration or dinner.
Over the years, we have had the occasion to transport celebrities such as Mary Lou Retton, Jerry Lewis, Lightning Hopkins , Phyllis Diller, Robert Goulet, and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, as well as being featured in commercials. Our greatest pleasure, however, comes from short thank you notes from our brides who say things like, “The ride to the hotel after the reception in the back seat of the Rolls Royce Convertible with the moon and stars out and the skyline in the distance, with soft music playing was the most romantic part of the evening as we were finally alone and off on our journey of life together in a car that was like something out of Alice In Wonderland.” Sometimes we advise the groom, if he is the one shopping for the limo, “if in later years your bride ever accuses you of not loving her, you can retort, “How can you say that? We weren’t even married 5 minutes and I had you riding in a Rolls Royce!”
Jordan Limousines and the Jordans have maintained memberships in the Limousine Association of Houston, the National Limousine Association, the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the Houston Wedding Association, the Bay Area Wedding Professionals and seven antique car clubs. “Scrupulous attention to detail and helping brides and grooms every way we can on the most important day of their lives has put us where we are today,” says Jordan . “We are committed long-term to the Wedding Industry, and our family’s next generation will keep these cars restored and have them available to young couples whose parents used the same car many years earlier”. At the end of the day, our limo driver is the last person who was at the wedding to bid good evening and give wishes for a wonderful life to the happy couple. We leave them with the satisfaction of knowing that our careful planning and preparation provided them with the perfect departure from the reception, in a perfect car at the end of a perfect day. “That’s who we are; that’s what we do.”
